MESORAH BOARD 2015-2016!
President: Hillel Hochsztein & Jenna Kershenbaum
Generally a gregarious and otherwise amicable fellow, Hillel Hochsztein is usually very friendly and just a little too loud. Hillel is a graduate of TABC and Yeshivat Har Etzion and is currently a junior in the Rutgers School of Engineering. His interests include technology, singing, and yoyo (it’s cool… or at least he thinks so). Hillel is excited to serve as a President of Mesorah for this year.
Standing at a towering 5' 1", Jenna Kershenbaum loves Mesorah almost as much as she loves the New York Mets. When she isn't getting annoyed at Napoleon for trying to conquer Russia in the winter (seriously, why would anyone try to do that? Silly Napoleon), Jenna can probably be found shoving pictures of her dog in people's faces or daydreaming about eating laffa with extra techina in the Old City. She can't wait to meet all the new peeps and is looking forward to a great year full of Jewy goodness and maybe even an RU football win!
Shabbat chairs: Ayelet Golubtchik & TBD
Hi! I'm Ayelet and I'm a sophomore here at Rutgers. I'm from Teaneck, NJ. I'm currently a criminal justice major and will most likely be adding a psych major/minor. You can typically find me doing puzzles on my computer or reading a book that later may or may not cause insomnia. I'm looking forward to planning fantastic Shabbatot for this year!
If you are interested in becoming our other Shabbat Chair, please email RutgersMesorah@gmail.com.
Communications Chair: Andrew Ludner
Andrew, who has spent his past two years at Rutgers causing shenanigans to all, relaxing in the immersive world of Netflix, and creating Photoshopped images that come from the obscurity that is his mind, is thrilled to use his time productively once again by helping the Mesorah community. Using his major and minor, Communications and Visual Arts, he plans on making this a coral year of fun and excitement for Mesorah.
Financial Chair: Mira Chanowitz
Hi, my name is Mira Chanowitz and I am the treasurer of Rutgers Mesorah for this year. I could not be more excited!! I will be a sophomore in the Fall majoring in Exercise Science. I went to Kushner for high school and then went to Israel for a year abroad before coming to Rutgers. Some fun facts about me: I am an only child, I love sports, and I grew up ten minutes away from Rutgers in Highland Park!
Social Chairs: Alex Akman & Estee Miller
Alex is a Sophomore at the Rutgers Business School. He is looking forward to a shtick filled year as Mesorah Board’s Social Chairman. Alex intends to bring an inappropriate amount of enthusiasm to his position on Mesorah Board. He enjoys long walks on the beach, wood-working, and updating his O.K. Cupid account. Rutgers is a “great place to be Jewish” and Alex looks forward to making his own contribution to that legacy.
Estee is a Sophmore at Rutgers and is planning on double majoring in Public Health and Communication. Originally from Los Angeles, Estee decided to attend Rutgers because she was sick of having perfect weather year-round and loved the frigid New Jersey climate. In reality, New Jersey's weather did not entice Estee to attend Rutgers; she was convinced by Rutgers awesome Jewish community that is so friendly and welcoming. Estee is excited to plan events with her co-social chair, Alex Akman, and to be a part of an organization that make Rutgers "A great place to be Jewish."
Education Chair: Joey Baruh
Joey Baruh is a senior majoring in economics and is eyeing law school the same way you eye a bagel after a fast day. Before Rutgers, Joey spent two years in Israel at Yeshivat Chofetz Chaim in Sanhedria Murchevet, Jerusalem, where he spent much of his time being confused. As Education Chair, Joey looks forward to engaging with the community and bringing a variety of Orthodox voices to campus. Joey frequently doesn’t know what he’s doing, so he’s always looking for feedback on how to improve Jewish education at Rutgers.
